Kyoto - Fushimi Inari

Fushimi Inari Shrine, dedicated to the Shinto god Inari, is famous for gates or “torii” along the hill paths. Companies make donations in the form of torii gates seen here.

The shrine is also host to a scenic bamboo forest.

Found at entrances of temples and shrines, the well is for visitors to rinse their hands before praying.

A resident feline overlooks a torii path. It takes about 2 hours to hike up the hill on the 4km tori-line paths.

Donations from individuals are in the form of smaller torii gates.
